Embed self-hosted video in Patreon posts

Your files can stay on the infrastructure you control. RedShoreMedia supplies a player and a shareable link that Patreon can embed; it does not need to copy your video to another host.

What you need

A public HTTPS hostname and a direct MP4, WebM or HLS (.m3u8) URL. A storage dashboard, file-manager page or ordinary video watch page is not a media URL. The source must be reachable by your viewers without a private network, browser login or manually supplied authorization header.

Add your own source

Create a workspace, open Library and choose Your server or storage. Paste the URL, give the video a title and optionally add a poster-image URL. Check video link loads a browser preview without sending the file through RedShoreMedia. Check picture, audio and seeking before publishing.

Publish to Patreon

Save the video and copy its RedShoreMedia share link. In Patreon, create or edit a video post and use the external video or Embed URL option available in its editor. Paste the RedShoreMedia link, wait for its preview and check the published post on mobile as well as desktop.

Keep your Patreon posts stable

If you move the same video to a new location, use Edit source in your library. The RedShoreMedia video ID and share link remain unchanged. Existing analytics stay attached to that link, so replace it with the same work rather than treating its history as measurements of a different video.

Prepare the server

Use a correct media Content-Type and support byte-range requests for efficient MP4/WebM seeking. HLS manifests, child playlists, segments and keys must all be reachable and permit browser access through CORS. HTTPS must also work for every child resource. A signed source stops playing when its URL expires; RedShoreMedia cannot renew a third-party token from a static link.

Know what stays with you

You pay your server or storage provider for storage and delivery. RedShoreMedia does not create adaptive renditions or convert an incompatible codec in this link-only workflow. Keep backups and obtain all rights to share the content. Public source URLs remain discoverable by a viewer; protection of the original file requires access controls on your own host.

Try your source before publishing.
