Patreon video not embedding: a troubleshooting guide

First determine whether the failure is in the source video, the RedShoreMedia player or Patreon’s preview. Checking those stages separately avoids repeatedly republishing a broken link.

1. Check the link you pasted

The workspace source form needs a direct HTTPS .mp4, .webm or .m3u8 media URL. Patreon’s external-video field needs the saved RedShoreMedia share link. Neither field accepts your hosting dashboard, a file-manager login page or arbitrary iframe HTML.

2. Test the source preview

Use Check video link in your workspace. If the preview cannot load, check the server certificate, file availability, browser codec support and source access settings. An HTML error page with a video-like filename is not a video. Keep private network URLs and credentials out of the form.

3. Check HLS resources and expiry

A reachable master playlist is not enough: variant playlists, segments, audio tracks and encryption keys must also load. Configure HTTPS and CORS throughout the chain. If a signed URL expired, replace it with a valid source; a copied old token cannot be renewed by the player.

4. Test the saved player

Open your RedShoreMedia share link and test playback, sound and seeking. Confirm the video is ready and permitted by the current plan. Free limits and an explicitly suspended playback state can make an otherwise valid source unavailable.

5. Retry the Patreon preview

Use Patreon’s external/embed video option and allow the provider preview to resolve. Check the published post rather than relying only on a cached editor preview. Test the mobile app and a browser. For a continuing problem, send support the RedShoreMedia URL, device/browser and visible error, without secret source tokens.

Try your source before publishing.
