Why Your Video Link Won’t Embed on Patreon — and How to Fix It
Learn how to distinguish a source-file problem from a player-link problem and a Patreon preview problem before republishing your post.

A Patreon post containing your saved RedShoreMedia watch link refers to a video record in your library. That record can point to a compatible source on your current host. Replacing its source allows the publication reference to stay the same while the file location changes. This is useful when storage is reorganized, a delivery URL expires or a hosting provider changes.
The scope matters. A post containing an old direct Vimeo, Bunny or another provider’s URL does not automatically become a RedShoreMedia post. You must update that post separately if you want to change its provider reference. Our three-hour anonymous test links are also temporary references, not migration anchors for permanent content.
Keep the original files and a verified backup. Upload or copy the same video to the new host and check duration, sound, picture and captions where relevant. For a direct MP4, verify HTTPS, media type and seeking. For HLS, check the complete playlist and segment chain rather than just the first manifest. Match the delivery quality your audience expects.
Use the public tester or an isolated draft to examine the new source before changing a live record. Avoid moving an entire library in one step. Choose one low-risk video, record its current source securely and define how you will revert if the replacement fails. Do not delete the old copy simply because an upload completed successfully.
In the library, open the existing own-hosted video and choose Edit source. Enter the new compatible address and review the preview. Save only after checking that you are editing the correct record. This workflow keeps that video’s RedShoreMedia ID and share link; it does not create an extra video slot just to change the location.
Keep the identity of the work consistent. Historical analytics remain attached to the record, so replacing a tutorial with an unrelated film would make the history misleading. For an entirely new work, create a separate video. If you are migrating from a managed-provider import into a different source workflow, check the available controls with support rather than assuming every record has identical editing options.
Open an existing Patreon post after the change. Test a normal browser, the mobile app, seeking and sound. Caches can delay some changes; a cached preview is not proof that the new source is failing or that the old source can be deleted. Keep a reasonable overlap period and watch delivery errors and the new provider’s bill.
Source signatures, provider account permissions and access controls remain your responsibility. RedShoreMedia cannot renew an arbitrary expired third-party token from a static URL. Stable publication links reduce editing work, but dependable hosting, backups and a tested rollback keep that convenience from becoming a release-day outage.
Preview a compatible video without an account, then create a three-hour link to test in a real Patreon post.
